The quickest way to discover and fall in love with Italy is at the table. If you ask me what is my favorite western dish, it would definitely be Italian. My family has always choose ingredients that are “Made in Italy” because we can feel the love and passion from the Italian chef during his preparation. The secret to their success is the high standard of quality and freshness as well as“ the way they cultivate and prepare them.
The Italian Cuisine Week has held in Malaysia this November at the prestigious Four Season Hotel. Michelin Star Chef, Daniele Repetti was selected to represent Italy to be the key person to promote Italian cuisine with the raw material available locally but firmly anchored to the values of Italian traditions. I was honored to be invited as a special guest by the Italian Trade Commission to share my experience at the “HOMAGE TO THE ITALIAN TRADITION OF GENUINE COOKING”
One of the main highlights in this #ExtraordinaryItaliaTaste experience is the Mediterranean diet which serves the nutritional values and the positive effect in terms of public health. Mediterranean diet was started in the region around the Mediterranean Sea, such as Greece, Croatia, and Italy and was then discovered and applied by consumers of South East Asia countries. They emphasize a plant-based eating approach, loaded with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, olive oil and healthy fats, including olive oil and omega-3 fatty acids like fish over red meats. This diet also includes moderate amounts of red wine. 1 glass for women and 2 glasses for men. Above all else, these meals are eaten in the company of friends and family because strong social ties are a cornerstone of beautiful lives and a healthy diet. This Mediterranean Diet was proudly prepared by award-winning Michelin Chef, Daniele Repetti and nutritionist Dr. Rolando Bolognino.
Walk through the 5-course dinner paired with first-class wine maker by Lucetta Winery with me and you will fall in love with Italian cuisine. SALUTI! ( meaning cheers 🙂 )
Parmesan cheese Terrine | Pickled Vegetables | Puffed Tapioca Chips | Balsamic Vinegar Gel
The combination of this appetizer is complicating yet exotic. The Parmesan Cheese Terrine also blended-in well with other ingredients. If you look at the plate closely, it is bursting with colors that enhance the presentation of the dish.
Tomato Filled Ravioli in a Seafood Soup
This is a one of the best Ravioli I have tasted in Malaysia that matches the quality of the main course with dessert. If you are up for a variety of taste, try lobster, cheese, or spinach fillings.
Saffron Cream Risotto | Beef Broth Sauce | Almonds Deep-Fried Artichokes
The Saffron Cream Risotto has a very subtle flavor and aroma. This tradition-busting method guarantees the creamiest, silkiest, and most delicious version possible. If you are a cheese lover, add more cheese on your risotto to deliver a satisfying savoriness.
Braised Veal Cheek | Creamy Potato with Rosemary | Poplar Mushroom | Black Truffle
The Braised Veal Cheek is exceptionally sweet and tender paired with creamy potato with a touch of rosemary and black truffle as the crown of aroma. This dish is simply heavenly accompanied by the exquisite Luretta’s Red Wine.
Bavarian White Chocolate Mousse | Amaretti Biscuit Crumble | Pineapple Sorbet | Raspberry Jelly
My night ended perfectly with a luxury-look dessert as the last course of the day. The Bavarian white chocolate is smooth, creamy, and delicate. Everything ends well with pineapple sorbet as it cleans the taste bud. There is always an extra space for dessert!
